Hello,

My name is Viliam and I would like to ask for help because of my mother Marta.&nbsp;My mother was a strong and healthy woman. She is a loving grandmother and a widow, she was married to my father for over thirty-six years, my father sadly died in October 2019.&nbsp;She was destroyed after my father's death because she was now alone without her life partner.

With our help, she gathered and devoted her time and energy to her grandchildren.&nbsp;She is the most devoted grandmother anyone could ask for. In the end, she found herself in a good place and decided it was time to travel back home to Slovakia to finalize my father's funeral and all other related matters.&nbsp;Unfortunately, two days before she was supposed to come home, she became ill.

She suffered from a severe cough for several days and was taken to hospital on the third day, where she tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. she deteriorated rapidly and she entered into an induced coma.&nbsp;It hadn't even been a year since my father had died, and now my mother was fighting for her life.&nbsp;The doctors told us to prepare for the worst.&nbsp;They warned us that she might not survive.&nbsp;Our mother was kept alive by a machine and her body had failed.&nbsp;We felt helpless but faithful that she could overcome it.&nbsp;After 28 days in a coma, she finally opened her eyes - she fought for her survival without her family.&nbsp;Unfortunately, when my mother was in a coma, she suffered a stroke. Her brain is now damaged - she has lost her mobility, her ability to feed herself, to take care of herself and, worst of all, she has lost her sight.&nbsp;She has a 4th degree bedsores, which is the most difficult of all.

Because of the mild condition she had, they had no choice but to throw her in for surgery immediately to get the bedsores under control. She suffers greatly and suffers from immense pain.&nbsp;She is now in a nursing home, which requires constant care. She has lost the ability to do some of the many things she loves like - dancing, cooking and baking with her grandchildren!&nbsp;She will never be able to see her grandchildren grow into beautiful human beings, she will never be able to see the sunrise in the morning and the sunset in the evening.&nbsp;All hope is not lost because she has not lost her family.

We hope and pray that we will be able to appreciate the little time we have left. We need to get her back home to the UK so we can take care of her, but it is extremely expensive and unfortunately as a family we cannot afford the full cost.&nbsp;Due to the condition in which she is in, she will also need a doctor during the special medical transport.&nbsp;It is more than 24 hours by land and more than two hours by air. Due to the nature of her bedsores, transport by road is not recommended.

We are asking for your help to get my Mom home, where we can be with her and take care of her.&nbsp;Having her grandchildren around can help lift her spirits, sing to her, mumble, caress her, stroke her beautiful face and let her know that we are here for her and we love her immensely.&nbsp;Medical transport costs more than 22 500 GBP, which we as a family do not have. We ask you the YC Heroes for a "modest" part of the total.&nbsp;We are asking in several places and we have already managed to collect half the required amount.
