In India, tuition is paid with plastic waste

How to solve the low education of the population and environmental pollution all at once? A married couple from India came up with a brilliant solution. Keeping reading to find out more.

Many parts of India, despite constant development, are still plagued by great poverty. Education here is definitely not a given for all children. Poor families prefer to send children to work because they need to earn a living.

The low level of education in poor areas of the country is also one of the reasons for the high level of environmental pollution. People are not provided with education in the field of processing and sorting of plastics and all waste is thrown on the streets or in nature.

These two fundamental problems plagued Parmita Sarma and Mazin Mukhtar and together they found a very clever solution.

Together, they established their own school and then a recycling center. All they still needed was to motivate residents to really start recycling. The idea that came to their minds is almost ingenious.

Tuition at their educational center is not paid by pupils from poor families with money, but with sorted plastic.

Each student is required to bring at least 25 pieces of plastic per week. For this, he is provided with a quality education.

Older students also tutor the younger ones, for which they are paid financial rewards. Parmita and Mazim thus give the poor people of India a chance at a new life and at the same time teach them to respect the environment.
